As a slight detour from restaurants and cooking, I wanted to share with you a pretty awesome magazine that recently launched, Jarry. A magazine for gay men who love food. Or as their website puts it: "Jarry brings together a community of gay chefs, eaters, artisans, writers, photographers, artists, and industry influences, and celebrates the art of gay domesticity." I discovered Jarry through their Kickstarter campaign and received the first issue last month, it's more than just a magazine, it's more like an almanac of food with great recipes, stunning photos and some pretty attractive chefs - Anjelica Houston's personal cook anyone?
Founded by three guys with a hefty experience in publication, and obviously cooking, the magazine doesn't just include recipe and dinner party ideas - although I will be giving Blake's fruit galette a try, feature stories include a look at Queer Chefs in America and a photo series of self-portraits of the fetish of American housewives post-WWII. It's a thing and I love it.
The magazine is now available for general sale and subscription, with the second issue hitting mailboxes in the spring. I can't recommend this enough, it's become part of my coffee table collection.
