There's very little to say about Kapnos that hasn't already been said, but I'll go ahead anyway and add my two cents - it has possibly one of the best brunches in the city - eggs, waffles, spit roasted meats, Greek coffee and the all important bottomless mimosa. I'm an indecisive diner, I tend to ask the server come to me last when taking an order, I want to know what my dining companions are having and I'm one of those people who can't order the same as someone else at my table, you know who you are. The problem with this is I get dish envy, I had wanted to order Spit Chicken and Waffles, but a friend beat me to it, and when it came out there was immediate regret. The Greek honey was almost reflective, drizzled over the crisp skin of the chicken, the server offered the option of all white meat which was taken up. This dish was the first to be finished, understandable. Don't get me wrong, the other dishes ordered at the table were great too, but not as impressive.
As odd as it sounds I'm not a huge egg person when it comes to breakfast so I like to brunch at places that offer alternatives, Kapnos does that. I ordered the Gyro, I couldn't pass up the spit roasted lamb. Served with crisp romaine and a decent helping of tzatziki on a pita bread, as beach season is upon us it was a nice alternative to a wrapped gyro, the carbs of the pita are optional, I didn't skip it completely, don't worry. The other dish ordered was the Stone Oven Baked Eggs which also has lamb baked into it, be careful of the Le Creuset it's served in - it's hot, and my friend has the burn mark to prove it. This dish was a little heavy on the potatoes but otherwise a crowd pleaser. The mimosas are $9 a piece but at $18 it's worth going bottomless, you're going to want to try them all, and no one has just one mimosa at brunch - the pineapple lemongrass in particular.
There's enough on the brunch menu to keep things fresh, not your run of the mill brunch spot where you find dishes found at other restaurants, it'll take you many visits before you start repeating orders, but that wouldn't be a terrible thing when you have the likes of spit roasted chicken.
